They create a dry, safe, lightproof internal environment in which to keep all kinds of useful objects, from your favourite teabags or instant coffee, to your sleeping bag or torch/flashlight. In countries where you can buy them readily, they are often very expensive, and do not conform to everyone’s idea of a tasty and nutritious meal, especially if you have specific dietary requirements such as vegetarianism, veganism or food allergies, or are your diet is restricted due to religious convictions.
